The Chess Season Begins! Wednesday 3rd September.

For all those not finding a summer league or playing at the death of the County Season, it has been a long lay off since the KO final on the 18th June. Many finished at the end of May.

So, kids can lay down their cricket bats (u15s ends Monday and u17s Wednesday) and parents can breathe a sigh of relief as the season is almost here. It is time to do battle.

What is the position?

Overall, we have lost Belgrave in the Watkinsons, Keddie Cup and Bill Lumley. This is mitigated through M&DD entering the Keddie Cup and Holmfirth putting a second team into the Examiner, now the bulk of juniors have done their GCSEs. Huddersfield were within a whisker of more teams but needed another season to solidify.

Numbers appear to be up and the Individual KO returns after a decade.
