There was a real buzz at the Stumble Inn tonight, with 31 players filling the room and every table taken! Twenty-four of those players were battling it out in Watkinson’s League action, while the redesigned room provided a fantastic setting for another busy night of chess, conversation and club camaraderie.
On the competitive front, it was a close-run affair for Holmfirth Tigers, who narrowly lost 2.5–3.5 to Huddersfield. There was better news for Meltham & Denby Dale, who came out on top against Honley. Congratulations to them!
The real winner of the evening, though, might just have been the Stumble Inn itself. We’re all loving the redesigned room, which is proving a brilliant home for Holmfirth Chess Club. It’s great to see so many players enjoying the space, whether they’re fighting for league points or simply coming along for a friendly game and a chat.
A huge thank you to Ted and Emma Draper for hosting us and helping make the club night such a success.
Thirty-one players, every table occupied and plenty of chess to enjoy — not a bad Wednesday night at all! ♟️
