Steve Westmoreland was recently informed that Holmfirth were to be awarded the title of Small Club of the Year by the ECF. The club has been recognised for its work to keep chess going during the pandemic, its growing membership and incredibly active junior section. The club will be awarded with a glass trophy and can make use of the winners logo on any advertising.
I’d like to offer my thanks to all at the club for making it such a welcoming and enjoyable experience. Special mentions must go to Rob Mitchell for taking on the role of secretary with such gusto and Steve Westmoreland for his tireless work in promoting the club.
