For those of you who aren’t already playing enough chess there are some upcoming events that may be of interest. 16th September sees the start of the Ilkley Chess Festival, taking place at King’s Hall & Winter Garden in Ilkley. It is a 5 round event with the option to take a half-point bye where required. There is also an evening blitz event on the Saturday night at the Chess Centre venue for anyone who isn’t already worn out! Details and registration for this event can be found here: The Chess Centre | Festival
Secondly, there is the 47th Scarborough Chess Congress beginning on Friday 28th October. Another 5 round Swiss tournament with lots of familiar faces already registered. I’ve never played in it myself but the location looks fantastic. You can find all the information and enter online here: Home (scarboroughchess.uk)
If none of these take your fancy, the Silver Rook league starts again in September with a trip to Bradford to face Bradford B. Steve will be tapping you all up for that in the near future!
